Senator Stevens of Alaska is now a convicted felon.
He now could:
- Withdraw from the election, or
- Stay in, then:
- Lose the election. (Democrat)
- Win the Election, then, (Republican)
- Exonerate himself, OR (Republican)
- Be expelled by the Senate (Up for Grabs)
Alaska law does not permit the Governor from appointing a "replacement" Senator. However, by either withdrawing from the election, OR by being expelled by the Senate, he could force a "special election" for the Senate seat.
Any bets about Sarah Palin's name being on that ballot???
